VASECTOMY REVERSION
During a vasectomy, your doctor cuts or blocks the tubes, called the vas deferens, which carry sperm from your testes to your penis. In a vasectomy reversal, your doctor has to rejoin these tubes back together so that sperm can reach the semen you ejaculate during orgasm.
IS FERTILITY RECOVERED THROUGH THIS SURGERY?
That vasovasostomy is a success depends on multiple factors including: the vasectomy technique used in the past, the vasovasostomy technique that will be used, the time that has elapsed since vasectomy, the age of the patient and others.
WHAT DOES THE SURGERY CONSIST OF?
The vaso-vasostomy is a very delicate surgery, which requires great experience and expertise to obtain good results. It lasts around 2-3 hours. It is usually performed with long-term local anesthesia to avoid postoperative discomfort and is combined with an epidural block, except in some cases.
WHAT CARE POST OPERATORS MUST I TAKE?
After the operation you can return to work between 3 days and a week, depending on the discomfort. It is recommended not to make efforts or practice sports until 3 weeks after the intervention. You can have sex again 15 days after the intervention.
If the intervention is carried out without complications and a good postoperative period is performed, although it is difficult to predict when a pregnancy will occur, there are cases of pregnancies 3 months after the intervention. However, there are patients who need up to 2 years to get a normal spermogram (semen analysis).
